ISRAEL AND POVERTY 2/2

TWO CURRENT SHOKING EXAMPLES

By Didier BERTIN -11 August 2009

Two families living in the suburbs of Tel Aviv: Two Single women of more than 50 Years living with children (under 18 in one case and 18 in the other case)

CASE 1:

Unemployed Jewish lady with a child of 18, is following a retraining period. She is Bachelor of Sciences (University of Jerusalem).

The amount of indemnities amounts approximately to 4 000 NIS, and  the Unemployment agency deducts from the indemnities 1 000 NIS for the cost of the retraining  and pays a net amount of 3 000 NIS.

The amount of Rent in a sordid house is more than 3 000 NIS.

The unemployment person is thus assumed not to eat.

Additional small works after hours of retaining hours should be done to buy rice.

These works to get food should be in black or the amount will be deduced from the 3 000 NIS probably in order to be sure that the family is starving

CASE 2:

A Working Jewish lady with a young child (12) receives a net salary of 4 000 NIS, she is Bachelor of Art (University of Tel Aviv). The amount of rent for a sordid flat is 4 000 NIS.

The lady and her child live both on the allocation of 3 000 NIS paid by the father for the child. Requests for assistance are constantly delayed by the authorities.

The solution is to borrow money to repay the former debts necessary to buy food.

COMMON PARAMETERS OF BOTH CASES

The two ladies are more than 50 years old and have no expectation to receive a descent pension after the age of 62 years.

The two owners renting the sordid flat are very religious people attending regularly the prayers in the Synagogues and respecting Shabbat and casher food. They don’t suffer of conscience problems when they receive money and let the people starve.

It appears from the above cases that the Judaism might include be Ethical an awful number or small rules to follow and does not permit to underline the most important rule: Ethics for certain people not sensible to it in their everyday life. The excuse of market is not sufficient in our opinion for believers. The believers should force the market to be fair.

The divorce out of religion and the predominance of Democratic Rules imposed by Secular State may compensate this situation.
